If you’ve seen the news over the past week or two, you will have seen that the Australian snow season has kicked off in fine form. With plenty of lifts open and runs groomed, there was a rush to the slopes over the long weekend… and subsequently some very sore punters going back to work today.
Training your body specifically to withstand an entire day (or weekend) on the slopes can be a daunting prospect – however Power Plate equipment is the perfect training tool for skiers and snowboarders alike.
In fact, regular targeted workouts on the Power Plate machine offer a range of benefits for skiiers and snowboarders through Acceleration Training exercise, including:
- Increased strength
- Improved vertical jump height
- Increased flexibility & range of motion
- Improved balance & stability
- Reduced pain and soreness
- Faster recovery after injury
Many skiing and snowboarding communities internationally have taken to training with the Power Plate machine, which calls ski teams such as the Great Britain Ski Team, the British World Cup Ladies’ Alpine Ski Team, and Olympic Skiier Chemmy Alcott as dedicated fans.
Our resident Power Plate expert and International Master Trainer Amanda Boyle agrees that the Power Plate machine is great for snow sport preparations.
“The great thing about the Power Plate machine is that is prepared your body for the experience of travelling on snow. The vibration makes the Power Plate machine ‘drop out’ from underneath you multiple times per second, which imitates the uneven ground you experience on the mountain. Your muscles become used to the uncertainty and gain strength in order to deal with it. This gives you improved balance and stability when you hit the slopes for real!”
